Lind Blix Knudson Age 89, longtime businessman in Rice Lake, WI, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024 in Rice Lake.

He was born on January 13, 1935 to Arthur and Mildred (Lind) Knudson; the family moved from Cornell to Rice Lake, where he grew up and graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1952.

He attended St. Olaf College for two years, served two years in the United States Army at 5th Army Headquarter in Chicago, and finished his education at UW Madison with a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Knudson worked in the corporate business world for several years. He was married to Carole Dianne Holt of San Francisco for 16 years. In 1976 he met and married Carol Ann Malone, Assistant Professor of English and Journalism at the UW Barron County. He recently retired from selling insurance for sixty years at Knudson Agency in Rice Lake. Lind was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where he sang in the Senior Choir for many years. He was also a member of Rotary Club for 15 years, and the Shriners and the Rice Lake Elks Lodge. He and his wife, Carol, along with Wayne and Edie Spangler, and Bob and Miriam Yarish, hosted the Aquafest sailing parties for a number of years. Lind was a devoted family man who also enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. He truly was a friend to all who loved meeting and talking to people. Lind was a big fan of the UW Badgers.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Knudson of Rice Lake; four children, Deborah (Mark) Mertens of Elm Grove, WI; Jeffrey (Patti) Knudson of Neenah, WI; Dr. Christopher (Stephanie) Knudson of Atlanta, GA and Dr. Michael (Megan) Knudson of Edina, MN; seven grandchildren, Christine (Jordan) Asch of Westwood, NJ; Emilie (Michael) Kerns of Elm Grove; Lucas James Knudson Wirth of Appleton, WI; Erik, Karl, Jakob and Bjorn Knudson all of Edina, MN; and three great grandchildren, Isla and Oskar of Westwood, NJ and Henry Lind of Elm Grove; a brother-in-law, Michael (Linda) Malone of West Allis, WI; a nephew, Sean (Athena) Malone of Waukesha, WI; and other numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred Knudson; and a sister, Janice Oliver.

Funeral Services will be held at 1PM Friday, February 23, 2024 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Arthur Bergren officiating, with interment in the Sumner Cemetery in Cameron, WI where Military Rites will be accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 11AM-1PM Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is serving and assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Bethany Lutheran Church.
