In Memory of Leona Bowen
Leona Evelyn Bowen, 85, of Cumberland died Monday, February 14, 2022 at Cumberland Healthcare.
She was born September 6, 1936 in Palmer, AK to James and Lillian (Bjurman) Johnston.
She was married in Cumberland, WI on February 5, 1955 to Robert Bowen at the First United Methodist Church. Leona worked for the U.S. Post Office for 25 years and served as clerk for the Town of Crystal Lake for several years, and volunteered for the hospital auxiliary and with the United Methodist Women for many years.
Leona was graced with a servant's spirit, and was known for her caring and hospitality. Her faith guided her life, and she shared her many gifts with those she loved. She was an adoring wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Leona filled the room with her smile and warmth. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and card games (especially cribbage), bowling, completing puzzles, embroidering, and baking.
She is survived by 3 sons: Kenneth (Flor) Bowen, Steven Bowen and Craig (Nancy) Bowen, all of Cumberland; daughter, Diane (Mike) Wenrich of East Berlin, PA; 7 grandchildren: Shawna, B. J., Shannon, Jordan, Ashley, Dana and Morgan; 12 great grandchildren: Gavyn, Greenlee, Camden, Quinn, Kenslee, Lyam, Katie, Sahara, Neil, Jack, Vivyan, and Henry; 3 sisters: LaVonne Grams of Skyesville, MD, Jean (Gene Demars) Wendt of Minneapolis, MN, and Roberta (Brian) Houston of Zumbrota, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Bob on November 13, 2012 and her sister, Joyce Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 21, 2022 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Brubaker officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers are B.J. Bowen, Jordan Bowen, Nick Demes, Mike Wylie, Andrew Klinkner, and Mike Wenrich. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 1:00 on Monday at the Church.
