In Memory of Leo Smith
August 21st, 1936 - April 8, 2018
Leo Francis Smith, 81, passed away on April 8, 2018 at home in Shell Lake, WI. He was born on August 21st, 1936 in Joliet, IL to George Smith and Virginia Murphy. Leo grew up in Joliet, IL. He graduated from Joliet High School in 1953. After high school he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Anchorage, AK where served for four years. He worked over 20 years for Johnson Truck Bodies as a lamination technician, retiring in 2000.
Leo married Janice Seever on September 21st, 1985 at Long Lake Lutheran Church, Birchwood, WI. They were happily married for 32 years. He enjoyed reading westerns, watching movies with his grandchildren, visiting with neighbors, and tinkering on all types of projects.
Leo is survived by his spouse Janice of Shell Lake, WI; his daughter Jennifer Tripp of Spooner, WI; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his stepchildren: Gray (Suzie) Seever, Shelly (Dean) Christopherson and Shawn Seever; his brother George (Mary) Smith of Arizona; his grandchildren: Jaryd, Samuel, Kayla, McKayla, and Ava; and his nieces and nephews and other relatives. Leo was preceded in death by his parents George and Virginia, siblings Dan and Ray Smith, and niece Colleen Smith.
A funeral service will be held at Skinner Funeral Home, 511 1st Street, Shell Lake, WI on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Burial service will be later this spring at the Rice Lake Cemetery, Braham, MN. skinnerfh.com
