In Memory of LeAlyce Kammerud


May 20, 1945 - April 21, 2019

LeAlyce Ann Kammerud, 73, of Ladysmith, formerly of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, April 21st, 2019 at Ladysmith Care Community with family and friends by her side. LeAlyce was born on May 20th, 1945 in Cumberland, WI, daughter of Herb & Mildred Schmidt. LeAlyce and Richard married on June 22nd, 1968 at First Lutheran Church in Cumberland, WI and they had three sons; Nathan, Christopher and Cory.

Le received her BA from UW-Eau Claire and her MSW in social work from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Le was a proud social worker and held several positions in the field including settings of adoption, foster care, mental health counseling and hospital.

Le enjoyed playing piano, visits from friends and family, watching game shows, writing letters, journaling, spectator sports, traveling and music. Rich and Le especially enjoyed sitting in their screen porch overlooking Balsam Lake.

LeAlyce is survived by her two sons: Nathan Kammerud of St. Francis, MN and Christopher (Julie) Kammerud of Ladysmith, WI; one daughter, Lisa Thompson of Richland, WA; 4 grandchildren: Ashlee, Ellee, Sophia and Nolan; Brother James (Lonna) Schmidt; Sister Kathleen (William) Whalen and many family and friends. LeAlyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Kammerud; son, Cory Kammerud; her twin sister and her parents.

The family would like to thank Ladysmith Care Community for their care and support to LeAlyce and the family the past three years.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Cumberland with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
