September 21, 1931 - July 23, 2017

LaVerne “Bud” R. Mlejnek, 85, of Haugen, WI passed away at Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake, WI on Sunday, July 23, 2017.

LaVerene was born in Rice Lake, WI on September 21, 1931 to Frank and Christina (Havel) Mlejnek.  Bud lived In Haugen most of his life.  He married Marlys Thompson on September 24, 1955 in Rice Lake.  He enjoyed gardening, wildlife and birds, fishing, hunting, playing cards and dice, and spending time with his large family.

Bud is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Marlys; his daughters, Lori Berschneider, Tammy (Dick) Larson, and Becky (Darrell) Pierce; his sons, Brad Mlejnek, Todd Mlejnek, and Craig (Shari) Mlejnek; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his brother Lloyd; and his sister Lorraine (Tom) Juza. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Christina; his sisters, Betty, Lee, Helen, Sis, and Mary; and his brothers, George, Joe, Edward, and Frank.

A gathering of family and friends was held for LaVerne on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Spooner Funeral Home in Spooner, WI from 10 until 11 am.  Burial with full military honors will held at The Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 11:30 am.
