Laurie Swerkstrom of Luck, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 14, 2023. She was 79 and living at The Arbor Memory Care at The Deerfield Presbyterian Homes in New Richmond, Wisconsin.

Laura Jean Morgan was born to Leonard and Ardy Morgan in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 20, 1943. Her family moved for a brief time to Superior, Wisconsin, when she was young, then returned to Luck for the remainder of their lives.

Laurie graduated from Luck High School, where she met the love of her life, Marty Swerkstrom. They married on June 9, 1961 and resided in Luck. She worked at the Luck Dental Clinic and a few summers at the Luck Golf Course.

She made sure to show the importance of her family; Whether it was through the upkeep of their beautiful home, hours spent in the kitchen preparing incomparable dishes, or shopping for thoughtful gifts, she always made a point to love and care for her family overwhelmingly. Laurie was always proud of her children and grandchildren and loved attending sporting events, plays, recitals, and races. Not only was she selfless for her family, but she also found joy in treating the animals with kindness by perpetually keeping the birdfeeders full and ensuring her cat, Lenny, was always attended to and that the plants in her house were healthy.

She and Marty loved to travel, especially with good company. Trips to Las Vegas, Canada, and Maui were some of their favorite destinations. Adventures in town with their tight-knit friend group included times on the lake and golf course. In the warm months, they spent time with family and friends camping and snowmobiling with the Luck Snow Rovers in the winter- All while always playing their favorite music and sharing a dance. No matter the activity or place, Laurie loved spending time with the people most important to her.

Laurie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Marty; daughters: Kris (Jacque) Hawkins, Marney (Wayne) Hendrickson, Leslie Swerkstrom; Grandchildren: Lauren, Meagan, Jillian, Gabe, Jordan, Derek, Josh (Debbie), Ellen, Kennedy; Great-grandchild, Colton.

She is now reunited in Heaven with her parents, Leonard and Ardy Morgan, her brother Buster Morgan and her sister-in-law, Patty Morgan.

A memorial service will be held at The Luck Lutheran Church (510 East Foster Avenue Luck, Wisconsin), on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10 am, with a service to follow at 11 am.
