In Memory of Laurel A. Stusek
Laurel Stusek passed away peacefully, September 5, 2024, following a long battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many.
Laurel married Tom Stusek in 1970, and together they raised two wonderful sons, Blake and Damon (Vanessa). She took great joy in her role as a mother and later as a grandmother to her only grandson, Cale. Laurel's family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
In 1995, Laurel received her nursing license and dedicated her career to caring for others. She worked at various institutions, including Capeside, Hertzel Camp, Shell Lake Hospital, and the St. Croix Tribal Health Clinc, where she made lasting connections and left a positive impact on many lives.
After the passing of her beloved husband Tom in 2016, Laurel found companionship again with Bill Mattson, whom she reunited with in 2019. Their time together brought her happiness, but sadly, Bill passed away in 2022.
Laurel's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her friends and neighbors for their unwavering support. Your kindness has meant the world to us during this difficult time.
Laurel will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Burnett Youth Hockey.
