In Memory of Larry J. Dauer
Larry James Dauer, age 54, a resident of Braham, MN, passed away on August 18, 2024 at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN after a long battle with health issues.
Larry was born August 24th, 1969, in Forest Lake MN to parents Judith and Richard Dauer. Larry and his family moved to Jamestown, ND, where he attended Jamestown High School (class of 1987). He would often recount the fun, yet mischievous, stories of the time he spent with his friends from Jamestown.
Larry attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND, and worked as a tool and die maker and machinist. He worked at many different companies across the years, most notably Hutchinson Technology and McNally Industries. Larry was always proud that the parts he made at these companies, often medical equipment, would go on to help many people. Larry also worked as a semi-driver for McLane trucking after he got his CDL before returning to his machinist work.
Larry married Kim Wheeler (m. 2002-2010) and had two children with her, Adeline and Maxwell Dauer. Larry always wanted this to be known; despite any trial or tribulation, he loved his kids more than anything. Larry enjoyed going on camping trips with them and loved spending time with them in any way he could during their years together.
Larry was married to Wendy Stanley from 2010 to 2017 and enjoyed their time together in Duluth, MN.
He is preceded in death by his father Richard Dauer and his nephew Brent Hoffman. Larry is survived by his mother Judith Dauer, his sister Amy (Neal) Hoffman, his daughter Adeline Dauer, his son Maxwell Dauer, his nephew Evan Hoffman, his ex-wives Kim and Wendy, and many more family and friends.
Larry will especially be remembered for his sense of humor, and his helpfulness to others. He would always bring in comedy, no matter the situation, and would make a point to help others in any way he could.
A memorial service for Larry will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10-11 AM) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg, WI, with Pastor Carolyn Saunders officiating. A short service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND on September 28th at 2:00 pm (visitation from 1-2 pm) with burial to follow in the family plot at Highland Home Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
