In Memory of Kurt T. Lambert

December 28, 1965 - April 2, 2023

Kurt Todd Lambert, age 57, of Almena, passed away on April 2, 2023 at his home.

He was born in Barron, on December 28, 1965 to Lester and Betty (Stanius) Lambert. He graduated from Barron High School in 1984 and began working in Live Haul for Jerome Foods. In 2000, he went to work at Nordquist Trucking where he was currently employed.

Kurt and Becky (Hellmann) were married on May 19th, 1990. They were so looking forward to growing old together. Together they raised a son, Jacob and a daughter, Kayla in their cozy home in the country. Kurt was a proud Grandpa and was looking forward to his newest grandchild to be born this August.

Kurt had many interests and most of them involved the outdoors. Kurt began going “up north” to Gordon when he was a child and continued to do so with his own family. There was nothing better than sitting around the campfire with family and friends drinking Kurt’s favorite ice cold Bush Lattes. Anyone who knew Kurt knew he would be the one to be standing next to the blazing fire tending to it with his fire poker. Kurt was the king of the campfire and a master at the grill.

Kurt loved and was a successful hunter. He enjoyed hunting deer, bear, turkey and elk. Many of his hunting trophies can be found hanging on the wall. He enjoyed hunting trips out west with his dad, brother and family friends. His most exciting hunting experience was when Jake got a record breaking deer during the 2013 gun season. Hunting with his bow was his favorite and when asked about the cost of his hunting, he would reply with the famous Lambert grin, “I am providing food for the family.” Another way for him to provide for the family was with his fishing skills. He fished many lakes in Wisconsin, over to Devil’s Lake, up to Canada and even down to the Gulf of Mexico.

About 15 years ago, Kurt was on a work delivery to South Dakota and struck up a conversation with a man named Chuck. That conversation was the start of their yearly camping trips and many wonderful memories spent with Chuck, Sue, and their other great South Dakota friends.

From a young age, Kurt was an avid pool shooter. When he was 13, he partnered up with “Smocko” in a pool tournament in Glenwood City, placing 3rd out of 50 teams. He was even featured in the local newspaper.

Recently he was teaching his grandson, Chet, how to shoot pool. This brought Kurt great pleasure and he was looking forward to buying Chet his first pool stick for his upcoming birthday. Kurt would spend hours practicing. It became an ongoing joke, as he loved to tell Becky, "I won!" after each of his solo games.

ATVs have always been a part of his upbringing and he loved going riding. Some of the trips they took as a family were to the Black Hills and to Northern Minnesota. In recent years they upgraded their four wheelers for the side-by-side. They enjoyed many long trips together, often they would ride from home all the way to the camper "up north."

Kurt is survived by his wife, Becky; son, Jacob (Lyndsey) Lambert of Barron; daughter, Kayla Lambert of Bradenton, Florida; grandchildren, Chet, Zander, Abby & Carson; mother, Betty Lambert; brothers, Rick and Greg (Jodi); sister, Sue (Dave) Hanson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Kurt was preceded in death by his father, Lester and brother, Steve.

He was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa, son, and friend to so many. He will be missed by many. We have so many wonderful memories. In a private joke between Kurt and Becky, he was also a "Great Guy.” Thanks for taking us on all of our adventures!
