Kevin James Effertz, 64, of Cumberland died Sunday, September 20, 2020, at Cumberland Healthcare. He was born December 24, 1955, in Cumberland, to James and Marcella (Hammer) Effertz.

Kevin retired from 3M after working 35 years. He was married on April 26, 2004, to Renee (Ries) Hedke.

Kevin was a hard-working man who loved to garden, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and cherished the time spent with his grandkids. The time he spent with his family and friends, especially his cousins, was very special to him.

He is survived by wife, Renee; children: Jessica (Mark) Pickard, Ryan (Crystal) Effertz, Veronica (Jason) Koehler; step-children: Craig (Kate) Hedke, and Steve (Jenn) Hedke; grandchildren: Kierra and Hunter Pickard, Abbie and Cassie Effertz, Tristan and Tatum Hedke, Lincoln and Jyrecho Hedke; mother, Marcella Effertz; siblings: Sharon (Miles) Van Dyke, Mike (Penny) Effertz, Steven (Judy) Effertz, Jim (Val) Effertz, Dan (Julie) Effertz, Terry Effertz, Ken Effertz, Barb (Jim) Lombard, and Daren (Clara) Effertz; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, James Effertz.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday, September 28, 2020, at St. Ann Cemetery in Turtle Lake with Father Tom Thompson officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Kierra and Hunter Pickard, Abbie and Cassie Effertz, Tristan and Tatum Hedke, Lincoln, and Jyrecho Hedke. Visitation will be from 1-4 PM Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland.
