In Memory of Kent W. Lahners
Kent Walter Lahners, 54, of rural Siren died on Aug. 21, 2023.
Kent was born on May 28, 1969, to Kenneth and Dorothy Lahners.
He was raised on the family farm south of Siren and graduated from Siren High School in 1987. After high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was deployed during the Gulf War. He later attended UW-River Falls and was employed at Burnett Dairy Cooperative for over 25 years. In 2003, Kent married Sally Petersen and raised three children. Kent was known for his friendliness, sense of humor, knowledge of family and local history, and was always available to help friends and family. He showed his love for many people by giving them their own nicknames, especially his children “Rex,” “Ladybug,” and “Taz,” and was known to quote Looney Tunes and old tv shows in standard conversation. He enjoyed hunting and farming and was a proud member of the Northwoods Marine Corps League, American Legion, and VFW.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandra Dunker; and brother-in-law, Scott Hunter. He is survived by his children, Luke and Grace; and stepson, Arik Hochstetler, all of Grantsburg; sisters, Donna (Don) Floren of Royal City, Washington, Nancy Hunter of Luck, and Kristin of Pound; brothers, Kurt of Falun, and Kenneth (Naomi) of Glidden; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg. Funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church in Grantsburg, with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Mudhen Lake Cemetery.
