In Memory of Kenny Bird

February 13, 1940 - December 23, 2022

Kenneth Bird, 82, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022, at Heritage Lakeside. He had struggled with Alzheimer’s for several years.

He was born February 13, 1940, to Wilbur and Grace (Shepherd) Bird.

Kenny worked in construction, as a local truck driver, and eventually retired from Yellow River Concrete in Dresser, WI.

His hobbies through the years were Stock Car Racing, Drag Racing, and Ice Racing. He was very talented in drawing and painting portraits of wildlife, scenery, and people. Kenny loved to go golfing with his friends. He enjoyed traveling and had seen most of the United States. He never missed a swap meet that he could attend.

Kenny had a true passion for classic cars! Specifically Fords, he was a Ford enthusiast with encyclopedic knowledge of the vehicles from the 1908 Model T to the 1959 Models. His spare time was spent restoring them and entering his restorations and creations into car shows. If you ever wanted to irritate him, all you had to say was “Chevy”, “Dodge”, or “Toyota”. The people that knew him well, will understand and smile.

Dad, your family and friends will all miss you!

He is survived by his steadfast and closest friend, Betty Bergstedt; daughter Connie Bird and son-in-law Paul Mahowald; grandsons: Jeromy (Missy) Benson, Kenny Benson, and Kyle (Briana) Peterson; great-grandchildren: Alexis Peterson and Gavin Benson; brothers: Daniel (Robin) Bird of Cornelius, OR, Bradley (Sharon) Bird of Grove City, MN, and Ronald (Jackie) Bird of Nisswa, MN; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, and his two sons: Gary and Timmy.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, January 13, 2023, at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 AM - 12:30 PM at the funeral home.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
