In Memory of Kenneth Raasch


July 5, 1945 - March 27, 2019

Kenneth A. Raasch, age 73, of Spring Valley, WI passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in Hayward, WI.

Kenneth Allen Raasch was born July 5, 1945 in Eau Claire, WI the son of Dale and Doris (Schueler) Raasch.  He was raised in Spring Valley, WI and did his schooling there.  Ken graduated from high school in 1963 and then worked with his parents at their car dealership in Spring Valley.  Ken was married to Susan Kohn in 1966.  On March 14, 1967, Ken joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Coral Sea, a Midway-class aircraft carrier.  He served during the Vietnam War and earned the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.  Ken was honorably discharged on January 12, 1969 and returned to Spring Valley and worked with his parents.  He then began a career selling farm equipment for some time before going into dairy farming.  He operated his dairy farm for several years and then began work as a over the road truck driver which he did until his retirement.  Ken enjoyed going to the casino, smoking his pipe and watching football and college basketball. 

Ken is survived by his two sons, Chad Raasch of Hayward, WI, Brady Raasch of Cumberland, WI; granddaughter, Aivree Raasch; one sister, Sharon Strom of Balsam Lake, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Judy.

Military honors will be held at 1:45 P.M. on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
