In Memory of Kenneth K. Luke
Kenneth Karl Luke passed away unexpectedly on June 14, 2024 at his home in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. He was 69 years old. His family is shocked and deeply saddened by his sudden death. Ken was born April 29, 1955 to Mark and Violet Luke at Ladd Memorial Hospital in Osceola, Wisconsin. At the age of 4 he moved from Milltown, WI to Grantsburg, WI.
Ken is survived by his wife Dawn, son Dustin Luke with grandchildren Carter, Bennett, Dossen and Meleah; daughter Tanisha Cook (Joe) with grandchildren Aubrey and Dillon; son Kody Luke (Kali) with grandson Kayce. Forever remembered by his siblings Mike Luke, Kathie Venske (Jim), and Kelly Young (Jodie) as well as by a large extended family and network of friends.
Ken worked hard for many years on the family dairy farm which he eventually purchased. He also worked at Shafer Contracting, North Pine Aggregate, and Red Stone Construction as a Local 49’er Union Member from which he retired from in 2010. Ken always worked the farm raising crops and beef cattle in addition to the horses. In his retirement Ken enjoyed camping with his beloved horses, riding his Harley for pleasure or for parts for the farm, snowmobiling, dancing with Dawn, and going to a wide array of his grandchildren’s events.
In more recent years, there would be at least one trip to Hartshorn, Missouri to the Big Creek Trail Ride where he met many fellow horse lovers who are lasting friends. Ken and Dawn trailered their horses to various other states including: South Dakota, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Kansas and Illinois where they would camp and ride to experience the beauty of the area. Ken had many horses through the years, but his favorites were DJ, Babe, and Brownie. Many hours were also spent riding locally with family and friends.
Ken was a fun spirited soul who had an enormous heart and mischievous sense of humor. He was generous, loyal and always there to help everybody in their time of need. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences: he could fix or build anything. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He made an impact on many lives and will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
