Kenneth Hatcher, age 73, a resident of Spooner, died at his home on Saturday, May 19, 2018 after a short illness.

Kenneth was born on February 15, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois to parents Jerry and Eleanor (Moulett) Hatcher.  He attended school in Cumberland for a couple of years before attending and graduating from Grantsburg High School in 1963.  After working for about 3 months in the Dairy Industry, he decided that wasn’t for him and he enlisted in the U.S. Army.  While in the Army, he served in Vietnam as a helicopter machine gunner and was shot down twice.  He was then transferred to Infantry and was shipped back Stateside to Ft. Carson.  On December 20, 1969, he was united in marriage to Carole Tinsley at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner. He would spend the remainder of his Military career as a Recruiter in both the US and also in Germany.  He retired from the US Army in 1983 after serving over 20 years and the couple lived in Iowa.  He then attended and received an Associate’s of Art Degree from Columbia College. In 1988, they moved to New Mexico until 2004 when they moved to Spooner to be closer to family.  Kenneth was a car enthusiast and had a collection of metal die cast model cars, was an extremely patriotic man who loved his country and loved spending time with his dogs.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Carole, sister Sandra Kay Hatcher Anderson of Rice Lake, WI, and several nephews and nieces.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth Jr., sister Marjorie Lovejoy, and brother Steven Hatcher.
