Kenneth Sheldon Dirkes Age 65, of Rice Lake, WI died Sunday, January 20, 2019 at his farm. He was born on February 14, 1953 in Rice Lake to Sheldon and Norma (Lemon) Dirkes.

Ken graduated from the Rice Lake High School in 1972. He worked in Holsum Bakery, worked on the family farm, Birchwood Lumber and Veneer, American Excelsior in Rice Lake and Parker Hannifin in Chetek as a machinist and retired 2013. He was married to Marlene Prill Marvin on April 21,1989 in Rice Lake. Ken enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, watching the Brewers, would help out anyone that would ask and being at his farm enjoying the land and cutting wood.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Dirkes of Rice Lake; a son, Patrick (Kris) Dirkes of Eleva, WI; 3 step daughters, Angie (Eric) Yeager of Rice Lake, Melinda (Jesse) Thompson of McFarland, WI and Amanda (Frank) Urmanski of Janesville, WI; 4 grandchildren, Hannah, Maddie, Aaron and Cora; 3 sisters, Cindy (Ed) Willger of Rice Lake, Linda (Michael) Holcomb of Rice Lake and Cheryl (Shannon) Noonan of Reedsburg, WI; uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sheldon and Norma Dirkes; a brother, Daniel Dirkes and a niece, Amy Wahlstrom.

Funeral Services will be held at 4PM Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Campia, WI, with interment at Our Saviors Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4PM Saturday at the Church. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
