In Memory of Kathleen "Kathie" S. Krarup

August 12, 1944 - March 1, 2025

Kathleen (Kathie) Krarup was born on August 12th, 1944, to the union of Katherine and John Chovan in Glenwood City, Wisconsin. She relocated with her family to St. Paul, MN and then to Deer Park.

She was baptized and then later confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Deer Park. Kathie attended school in her early years in St. Paul, then she transferred to Deer Park’s school, and finally graduated from Amery High School. She was active in school clubs and loved to express herself through art and creative writing.

After graduating, she held various jobs and then settled at Fabri-Tek, where she first met her husband, Kevin M Krarup. Shortly after, they were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Deer Park. To this union were born her two sons, Matthew and Mark Krarup. After her boys were enrolled in school, Kathie took a job in medical records at the Amery Hospital, and then eventually became a full-time housewife.

Kathie was continually active in her church congregation, Ladies’ Aid, and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, where she held the position of President for many years, Church Youth Group, and 4H. When she wasn’t busy with activities outside of the home, she enjoyed flower gardens, making floral arrangements, wreaths and various arts and crafts. She loved spending time with her family and sharing her love. She provided day care to her two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Dawson Krarup; during that time, they built an inseparable bond that will last a lifetime. Kathie had a lot of love and compassion and wanted to share it with everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin Krarup; her mother, Katherine Chovan: her father, John Chovan; and siblings, Leon Chovan, Helen (Chovan) Ford, Linette (Chovan) Kozak.

She is survived by her son, Matthew (Christine) and Mark Krarup; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Dawson Krarup, Lizi Rosenbush, Shane Jonns, Chase Jonns, and Victorria Jonns, and honorary granddaughter Elizabeth Engel; great-grandchildren, Paisley and Benjamin Jonns, and “arriving soon” Baby Bonsness; and a host of beloved family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Amery, WI, with a visitation one hour prior.
