Katherine Gougé, age 88, of Red Lake, MN died Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Jourdain-Perpich Nursing Home in Red Lake.

Katherine Barrett was born March 8, 1931 in Red Lake, MN the daughter of Thomas and Jane (Yellow) Barrett. She attended boarding school in Marty, SD. Kay was united in marriage to Richard G. Gougé on March 14, 1969. She worked many different jobs including Hayward Nursing Home, Jenos in Chicago and Ragstock Laundry Mat in Minneapolis. Kay’s greatest joy was being a foster parent to many children.

She is survived by her sons Brandon Gougé, Maurice Garbow, Louis Gougé, Donald Butler, David Hunter Gougé and Chris Gougé; daughters Elizabeth (Thomas) Gougé Corbine, Christine Andreo, Kim Leecy and Sharon Benson; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Jane; husband Richard; children Gordon Mason, Yvonne Doose-Barrett, Nadine Wade, Lizzette Gougé; sisters Angeline Barrett, Mary Jane “Sis” Barrett Roberts; brothers Louis Barrett & John H. Barrett other relative and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2019 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. Father Gregory Hopefl will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Reserve. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19th at Pineview Funeral Service.

Honorary casket bearers will be Brennah Gougé, James Kingsfisher, Justin Kingfisher and Kim Leecy.

Casket bearers will be Thomas Corbine, Johnny Davis, Luis Gougé Fernandez, Dean Johnson, Adrien Wade and Brandon Wade.
