In Memory of Karen E. Eckert


May 19, 1938 - January 9, 2024

Karen Elynor (Hansen) Eckert, age 85 passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 9, 2024 at the United Pioneer Home in Luck, Wisconsin.

Karen was born on May 19, 1938 in Frederic, Wisconsin to Harley and Doris Hansen.

She had one younger brother, Douglas. Karen spent her childhood in Milltown, WI graduating from Milltown High School in 1957. Soon after graduation she met and married Alan Moore, they then moved to Luck and raised their family in West Denmark. Karen spent many hours in her little sewing room sewing clothes for the kids and lots of Barbie outfits for Lisa and Beth. Karen worked for many years at Alcan sewing factory in Milltown.

Karen and Alan eventually divorced, she then met and married James Eckert. Karen and Jim lived in Luck for a few years, eventually moving out west to California. When Jim died unexpectedly Karen returned to Wisconsin. She lived in Balsam Lake for a few years then moved back to Luck. Karen enjoyed sewing, gardening and tending to her flowers. She loved orchids and had close to 20 of them! Karen was always excited to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved being with her family. Karen spent two weeks in Tobago, W.I., a place she had always wanted to visit, in 2022 with Cris, Melanie and grandson Brent. This was the first time she had traveled outside the United States.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Doris Hansen, brother Douglas Hansen, her husband James Eckert and son in law Rick Prichard.

Karen is survived by her children, Cris (Melanie) Moore, Scot (Stacy) Moore, Lisa (John Svec) and Beth (Jonathan Kaplan). Grandchildren, Stephanie (Nick) Johnson, Eric (Jennifer) Castellano, Camille (Magnolia) Marsten, Bryan (Tonie) Moore, Brent Moore, Steven (Maegan) Moore, Donovan, Ryley and Caden Prichard. Great grandchildren, Aiden and Grant Johnson, Harley, Della and Romy Castellano and Cora Moore.

Karen will be laid to rest at West Denmark Cemetery during a private family burial in the spring. The family would like to thank the staff at the United Pioneer Home for their care and comfort in her final days.
