In Memory of Julie Wohlk
Julie Marie Wohlk (Kortus) died unexpectedly at the University of Minnesota Medical Center on July 22, 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the age of 62.
Julie was born on June 17, 1958 in St. Paul, MN to Michael and Shirley Kortus. She graduated from North St. Paul High School in 1976. She married Roger Wohlk in April of 1977. After moving to Wisconsin. Over a period of time, the couple welcomed two children into their home.
Julie was accomplished at “Jill of all trades”. She was happy, kind, outgoing and well-disposed individual who loved nature and fishing; and who was passionate about helping as many people as possible. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, biking, atv riding, walking/hiking, traveling and sightseeing; as well as being a competitive cribbage player.
She was a very active member of the Poskin Lake Association and ATV Club and helped out anybody that needed it in the area without question.
Julie is survived by her husband, Roger Wohlk of Almena; sons, Josh (Melanie) Wohlk of Chippewa Falls and Brad (Cat Tackett) Wohlk of Madison; granddaughter Illa Wohlk of Bloomer; step-granddaughters, Haedynn Leazott, Brooklyn Leazott and Makenna Hanson, all of Chippewa Falls; step-mother, Kath Kortus of North St. Paul, MN; brothers, Mark (Barb) Kortus of Milaca, MN, Craig Boyd of Pine City, MN, and Kevin Kortus of St. Paul, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Kortus and a sister, Debra Falvey.
A celebration of Julie’s life is planned for Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Wohlk family home located at 866 15th Avenue in rural Almena.
Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
