In Memory of Judith Anderson
Judith “Judy” Anderson, age 79, of Hayward, WI passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 at her home.
Judith Ann was born to Mildred and Melvin Miller on November 14, 1939 in Montevideo, MN. She attended Country School at District 9 for 6 years and then attended and graduated from the Montevideo Schools in 1957. Judy attended and graduated from the Willmar School of Nursing in 1958. On January 25, 1959, Judy married Robert W. Anderson. Judy started the Salem Church Library and along with her husband Robert “Bob”, started the Cub Scouts of Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo, MN. Judy worked at the Montevideo, MN hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse and also worked as a math and science teacher’s assistant for the Montevideo Schools from 1970 to 1973. In 1973, she worked as secretary for the Montevideo Schools in food service for 3 years before being promoted to Food Service Director in 1976. Judy served as director until retiring in 2003. During that time Judy was also employed by the State of Minnesota as a trainer for the Food Service Program and worked for 20 years as Food Service Director for the Summer Food Service Program at many of the migrant schools in Minnesota where she met many wonderful people. Judy moved to Hayward, Wisconsin in 2013 where she joined the watercolor painting group “The Broadstrokes”. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Hayward, WI. She enjoyed garage sales, fishing, libraries, and pizza days with her grandsons.
Judy is survived by her three sons; Jeffrey (Robin) Anderson, Neal (Stacy) Hughes Anderson, Michael (Debra) Anderson; two grandsons Morgan and Kaelan; sister Beverly (Chris) Smith; nieces, Corleen (Ishmael) Gomez, Rochelle (Ron) Cossette; and great nephew, Nic (Kaitlin) Smith and their children.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert “Bob”.
A funeral service celebrating Judy’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1st, at Hayward Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Bacon officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3rd, at the Strombeck Cemetery in Montevideo, MN.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Strombeck Cemetery Association in Montevideo, MN.
