In Memory of Juan Diaz


June 25, 1946 - April 22, 2021

Juan “John” Jose Diaz Age 74, of Ladysmith, WI, died Thursday, April 22, 2021.

He was born on June 25, 1946 in Mission, Texas to Genaro and Isabel (Gonzales) Diaz.

After graduating from High School he entered the United States Army and served in the Vietnam Era in Special Forces and was Honorably Discharged in 1971. John enjoyed gardening, playing cornhole, camping, horseshoes and softball. He loved being and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Diaz; 8 children, Chris (Stacey) Penley, Mickey Penley (Scott Herrmann), John Diaz Jr., Hope Penley (Jeff Crotteau), Victoria (Jon) Wright, Jesse Diaz, Richard (Adelaida) Diaz and Alyssa (Rob) McKenzie; 21 grandchildren; 1 ½ great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Jesus (Connie) Diaz, Jose (Joanie) Diaz and Mariano (Jackie) Diaz; 5 sisters, Guadalupe (Primitivo) Jimenez, Francisca (Delphs) Stokes, Maria (Scott) Batey, Carmen (Francisco) Sanchez and Theresa (Fiaolo) Tufano; many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Genaro and Isabel Diaz.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:45AM Monday, April 26, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, Father Ed Anderson officiating, with interment and Military Rites accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.

Visitation will be held from 9-10:45AM Monday at the Church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is in charge of the arrangements.
