Joyce “Pepper” Swenson Age 83, of Rice Lake, WI, died Sunday, August 20, 2023 in Marshfield, WI.

She was born on May 24, 1940 in Rice Lake to Fritz and Cecil (Corbin) Bothke.

Joyce graduated from Rice Lake High School 1959. She worked at the Rice Lake Creamery for many years before she married Kenneth Swenson on April 20, 1968 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedar Lake Township. Joyce also worked for Farm and Fleet in Rice Lake in aisle 11 and enjoyed talking and visiting with all of the customers. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedar Lake Township. She loved going to Branson, Missouri, the casinos and had a contagious laugh. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and also visiting on the phone.

She is survived by her son, Herbert (Theresa) Swenson of Rice Lake, WI; grandchildren, Tyler (Johanna), Chelsea, Kaitlyn (Chas) and Joshua; great grandchildren, Daniella, JuLeah and Luxington; son, Keith (Renee) Swenson of Weyerhaeuser, WI; grandchildren, Kayla (Jake), Kendra, Kevin and Tyler; great grandchildren, Landon and Liam; a sister, Joan (Gus) Moltzan; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Swenson; her parents, Fritz and Cecil (Corbin) Bothke; 2 brothers, Dick and Melvin Bothke.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM Sunday, August 27, 2023 at First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. John Erickson officiating, with interment in Cedar Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30-2PM Sunday at the church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.
