In Memory of Joyce Hanson
Joyce A. Hanson (Kommerstad), 88, of Spooner passed away on February 12, 2019.
Visitation will be 4-6pm on Monday, February 18th, 2019 at Spooner Funeral Home and again at 10am on February 19th, 2019 at the United Methodist Church (312 Elm St, Spooner, WI).
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 at United Methodist Church in Spooner with Pastor Ferdinand Serra presiding.
Burial will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Hwy 53 in Spooner (N4063 Veterans Way).
Joyce was born in Minneapolis to Elmer and Anna Kommerstad on December 28, 1930. She went to school at South High in Minneapolis and graduated in 1948. She married Ralph Hanson on September 9th, 1950 in Minneapolis. She was employed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Havre de Grace, Maryland in the tank division as a secretary. She was later employed as an administrative secretary at Allied Tool and Abrasive corp. in Los Angeles, CA.
She was involved with Spooner Women’s Club and president of the Spooner Education Foundation. She also attended various bible study groups in Spooner and Scottsdale, AZ. Joyce enjoyed reading, playing the piano, singing, tennis, and traveling. Joyce relished her role as a mother and grandmother to her family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Anna as well as her step-mother Mabel, her brother Earl Kommerstad and her sister Shirley Probst. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Ralph Hanson, her two sons Jay (Sandy) and Wayne (Patti), daughter Elizabeth Ehrlichmann (Andrew) and sister Judith Lund (William). She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael (Michelle), Lauren, Mark (Michelle), and Tyler (Monique), as well as two Great-Grandchildren Beaux and June and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be given to the Spooner Education Foundation.
