Joyce C (Slayton) Menzel of Springbrook, WI passed away at her home on April 18, 2017 with loved ones by her side.

Joyce Slayton was born on June 19, 1930 in Bass Lake Township, Washburn County to Carl G. & Theresa M. (Zimbrick) Slayton. She worked many years as the head housekeeper at the Hayward Hospital.  In January of 1993 Joyce co-chaired the museum project that turned the 1906 Springbrook St. Mary Magdeline Catholic Church into the Washburn County Historical Society Springbrook Museum.  The museum opened in the summer of 1994 with Joyce as the manager.  Joyce managed the museum for many years.  It was her passion to help people learn about the area history.  Joyce also helped many people through the years with their family genealogy.  After her retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband William Menzel.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband William; son Lanny Sigler and stepson Gene Menzel.

She is survived by sister, Phyllis (Bill) Haddick; her daughters, Dora Lee of Hibbing, MN and Sandra O’Hare of Hayward, WI; step children, Dan (Debra) Menzel, Sue Menzel, Donna (Wayne) Witthun and Judy; grandchildren, Nancy (Ben) Isham of Hayward, Jason O’Hare of Hayward, Justin Mack of Globe, AZ and Holly Sigler of Hixton, WI. As well as great grandchildren, a niece and nephews.
