In Memory of Joy D. (Erickson) Whitney
Joy Dana Whitney, age 71, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at her residence in Winter, Wi. She was born on February 24, 1953 in Minneapolis, MN, The daughter of Jerry and Carole (Lein) Erickson. She worked many years at Sperry Univac soldering parts together. She met Albert at Nibs bar and from there they hooked up and started living together in Minneapolis. She was united in Marriage to Albert Kleven Whitney Sr. on June 5, 1982 in Minneapolis, MN at Cedar Hurst Lodge.
Joy and her husband lived in Minneapolis, MN for many years until they decided they wanted to move their family North and buy a resort. They lived in Springbrook, WI for a little while until they found the Resort they bought in Winter, WI. Joy and her husband owned and operated Whitney's Wolf Den Resort on Barker Lake for many years. She was a gracious host and bar manager. Joy had a green thumb and took meticulous care of her gardens. She could spend all day enjoying the sun in her yard. Joy loved to fish when she had the chance to get by the water, she could fish all day long if you let her. Her love for her family and children went above and beyond. She loved her Grandchildren with all her heart and loved playing with them every day or just picking on them.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Albert Kleven Whitney Sr, her children, Sherri Baldwin of Milwaukee, WI, Albert Kleven Whitney Jr. of Hayward, WI and Carrie (David) Matuszewski of Winter, WI, her grandchildren Austin and Brooklynn Caraballo, and her brother Chris Erickson of Minneapolis, MN, and many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Carole (Lein) Erickson, and Grandparents Bertha and Christ Lein.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
