April 14, 1944 - December 29, 2016

Josephine Lorraine Mortensen, 72, of Shell Lake died , December 29, 2016 at Indianhead Medical Center. She was born April 14, 1944 in Shell Lake, WI to Joseph and Lorraine (Marker) Moravec. She was married in Shell Lake, WI on September 4, 1964 to Marvin Mortensen who preceded her in death on June 12, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Forrestal. Josie passed away peacefully surrounded with her family by her side. Josie enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with her granddaughters. Outings with her son Jason and daughter Debora while she was at Shell Lake Health Care Center. She enjoyed watching movies, word find puzzles, visiting with her friends at the health care center. Josie also enjoyed working at Indianhead Medical Center for 18 years, and worked at McCain foods until retirement. You were always welcome at Josie's house for a home cooked dinner, she was an amazing cook. We will truly miss her spicy sense of humor and humorous personality. 

She is survived by her daughter, Debora (Kenneth) Jamme of Shell Lake; son, Jason (Amy) Mortensen of Shell Lake; 2 grandchildren, Sarah (Craig) Furchtenicht of Sarona and Mallory Mortensen of Shell Lake; siblings: Veronica (Donnie) Simmons of Stone Lake, John (Marlene) Moravec of Sarona, Anita (Harold) Dodge of Rice Lake, Faith Ann Feidt of Chippewa Falls, Doug (Pat) Moravec of Cadott, Mary (Fritz) Mancl of Sarona, Rose Heinze of Mikana and Theodore (Diane) Moravec of Sarona; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Sue Odegard officiating. Burial will be in Lake Side Cemetery, Barronett, WI. Pallbearers are John Moravec, Doug Moravec, Theodore Moravec, Donnie Simmons, Ken Jamme and Craig Furchtenicht. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
