In Memory of Joseph W. O'Shogay


June 14, 1946 - December 26, 2024

Joseph William O’Shogay, age 78, of Lac Courte Oreilles, WI, started his journey home Thursday, December 26, 2024.

Joe was born June 14, 1946, in Hayward, WI, the son of Maxine O’Shogay. He was raised in Lac Courte Oreilles, attended school in Hayward and Melrose before setting out on the road sparking his passion for classic cars, rebuilding and restoring for most of his adult life. Joey met his future wife in 1970 traveling as an over the road truck driver embarking on numerous adventures. He enjoyed his love of honky-tonk music, spontaneous long road trips and visiting with his friends and family. Joey loved laughing and telling jokes, the true Ojibwe way.

He is survived by his wife Gloria; daughters Marian Belille & Deanna (Tom) Kohley; beloved sister Marie “Mer” Kuykendall; grandchildren; nieces & nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother Maxine; brothers Raymond O’Shogay, William Baker Jr.; and sister Winona “Bacon” Baker.

Tribal Funeral Rites will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at New Post Community Center in New Post. Keller will officiate. Burial will be in New Post Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Monday, December 30th at New Post Community Center.

Honorary casket bearers will be Darryl Ferrio, Daniel “Boone” Grover, Karla “Sam” Mendolla, Alice Brownrigg, Richard Miller Sr., Rick Miller & Donald Potack.

Casket Bearers will be Eugene Baker, Russell Brownrigg, William Kuykendall, Scott Miller, Bob Sharlow & Alexander House.

He will be forever known as Uncle Joe, cherished and missed by many.
