Joseph M. Urban, age 81, of Hayward, WI, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Joseph (Joe) Max Urban was born September 19, 1941, in Chicago, IL.

He was the son of Joseph and Wanda Urban and was raised in Chicago. Joe graduated from Gage Park High School and soon after began working at N&N Auto, selling automobile parts. In 1979, he moved to Wisconsin where he settled in Stone Lake to open Joe’s Discount Auto Parts. On September 2, 1980, Joe was united in marriage to Barbara Dugan in Hayward, WI. He continued to operate his business for twenty years before becoming a Housekeeping Supervisor for LCO Lodge and Casino. He retired ten years later. Throughout his life, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, going out for prime rib, playing video poker, and giving people a hard time. He loved watching the Green Bay Packers, spending time with his family, and going midnight fishing with Barbara. Joe’s Christian faith was very important to him.

Joe is survived by his seven children, Natalie (Jim) Grisham of Baldwin, MS; Nadine Urban of New Lennox, IL; Brian (Laura) Kosek of Chicago; John Kosek of Chicago Ridge, IL; Char (Patrick) Barton of La Crosse, WI; Dawn (Dennis) Taylor of Sandstone, MN; Joseph (Nikki) Urban of Hayward, WI; nine grandchildren, Morgan (Cole), Amanda, Jamie (Matt), Sarah, Brianna, Lauren, Emily, Amber, and James; great grandchildren Gabriel, Remmington, and August; many nieces and nephews; and his great grandpuppy, Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; and two sisters, Shirley Larson and Donna Fuller.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Hayward Regional Hospice.
