In Memory of Jon Glynn
Jon Glynn, age 59, a resident of Springbrook Township, died at his home on Friday, November 27, 2020 surrounded by family.
Jon was born in 1961, in Winnebago, Minnesota to parents Ronald and Mary (Wendlandt) Glynn. While in High School he joined the National Guard, and upon graduation, he transferred his enlistment to the US Army in October of 1979. On December 20, 1985, he was united in marriage to Julie Hennek in Mankato, Minnesota. Jon was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and earned his expert badge with M-16 rifle, marksman badge hand grenade, and driver badge with wheel, track, and mechanic devices before being honorably discharged in May of 1986. Shortly thereafter, the couple purchased a home in South Range, Wisconsin. They resided there until they moved to Springbrook Township in 1993. In 1989, Jon began a 31 year career driving truck for Conway Freight/ Trucking. Jon enjoyed wood working and rebuilding old trucks- especially Willis. He also liked to Kayak, go fishing, and watch his boys play on the high school football team. Jon was most proud of his sons and their service to the United States of America. Jon was a member of The River Church in Minong.
Jon is survived by his wife Julie, sons: Robert (Gina), Michael (Allegra), Correy, grandchildren: Sean and Ailiana, mother Mary Applen, brothers and sisters: Robert, Fran, Ann, and Gayle.
Jon is preceded in death by his father Ronald.
A “Drive In” memorial service (family and friends will be asked to stay in their cars during the service that will be held outdoors) will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 1pm, at The River Church in Minong with Pastor Ben Kidder officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:30 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery just south of Spooner.
