In Memory of John R. Swartz
John R. Swartz, age 75, of Cameron, WI passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 27, 2024.
John was born on May 24, 1949 in Chicago, IL to John and Genevieve (Matusewic) Swartz. He was raised in the city, but happily spent many summers and holidays in Pence and Montreal, WI as a kid and later on all throughout his life. John was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He spent time overseas in Korea where he was stationed. After his discharge, he made a special trip from Chicago to the north, where he met the love of his life, Margaret Prorok of Weyerhaeuser, WI. They were united in marriage on August 26th, 1972. John and Marge ventured back to Chicago, where they raised their 2 sons, Michael and Darren. John took a job after his Honorable Army Discharge working for Ryerson Steel, as a computer programmer/engineer where he worked for 30 years and retired in May of 1999. Later that summer, they moved to Northwestern Wisconsin and have resided in Cameron ever since. Together with his family and his faithful Lab, John spent a great deal of time traveling back to the north to visit relatives and to work on his lifelong project and dream of building his cabin on the Gile Flowage in Pence, WI. John greatly enjoyed his #1 hobby as a beautiful wood crafter, which was his true passion in life. He designed many pieces of furniture and cabinetry. Each and every piece of his work was very special, especially to those who received his gifts. John was a true handyman and could fix anything. He greatly enjoyed his time with his family, our special Christmas get-togethers and especially enjoyed his many cruises around the world.
John is survived by his wife: Margaret Swartz, his sons: Michael (Sharon) Swartz of Mikana and Darren Swartz of Bloomer, his grandchildren: Rylee and Nickolas Phillips, his sister-in-law: Shirley (Rick) Rouleau of Weyerhaeuser, brothers-in-law, Ronald Miklos of Chicago, Ronald Prorok (Bonnie) of Bruce, Wally Prorok and David Prorok of Weyerhaeuser and uncle: Stanley Matusewic of Milwaukee.
