In Memory of John O. Buecksler

December 28, 1932 - November 8, 2024

John Oscar Buecksler, known as Jack by his friends and family, passed away suddenly on November 8, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on December 28, 1932, in Waseca, Minnesota, to parents Oscar and Esther Buecksler, Jack's life was one of dedication, service, and joy, which touched the lives of everyone around him.

Jack was a graduate of Owatonna High School. After graduation, he answered the call of duty and served his country as an Army veteran, a period of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and community service. This experience would later lead him to become an active member of the VFW, where he contributed many years of dedicated involvement.

On June 30, 1967, Jack and Dot were married and raised four children while residing in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. Jack built a career with Shaw Lumber in St. Paul, Minnesota. After many years of hard work, they retired and moved to Frederic, Wisconsin. There, he worked for many years at Larsen Auto, where he became a well-known and much-appreciated member of the local community.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dot, his parents Oscar and Esther Buecksler, and his brothers Arne and Lester Buecksler. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving children, Donna (Roy) Diehl, Deb (Frank) Rezack, Lori Ranweiler, and Rob (Robin) Reitberger. Jack was devoted to his grandchildren, Michael (Desiree) Diehl, Kelly Bruner, Carrie Deyo, Erik Bangerter, Nick (Alicia) Reitberger, Brandon (Kirsten) Reitberger, Dillon (Sydney) Reitberger and his ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Victor (Joyce) Buecksler, sisters Florence Grunwald and Shirley (Glen) Nelson, and many nieces, nephews and friends. We all enjoyed and will miss his storytelling.

Jack's passing marks the end of a life well-lived, one filled with the joys of family, the fulfillment of work, the duty of service, and the pleasure of hobbies like bowling, fishing and hunting.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 19 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Grantsburg, WI (685 WI-70, Grantsburg, WI 54840). Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Frederic.
