In Memory of John Dezek
August 2, 1927 - July 29, 2018
John Dezak, age 90, of Spooner, WI, died on July 29, 2018 after a two-year battle with lung cancer.
John was born in Kenosha, WI on August 2, 1927 to parents John and Valeria (Modrowski) Dezek. He served in the US Army as a medic in Japan from 1945 to 1947. He married Georgia Meyer in August 1951 and raised three sons, Mark, Raymond, and William. John did construction work and retired in 1991. He lived in Kenosha until 1969 until moving to Spooner. They owned and operated Anchor Bay camping and cabins on Bass Lake. They moved to Orlando, Florida in 1982 where John worked in construction until his retirement. After retirement he worked on many craft items and sold them. They returned to Spooner in 2012.
John is survived by his wife, Georgia; his sons Mark and Raymond; his grandchildren Samantha (Chris) Bushman, Joshua (Kristi) Dezek, Donald (Mary) Dezek, Shawn (Kayla) Dezek, Jeremy (Christina) Dezek, Nichole Dezek, and Shannon Dezek; ten great-grandchildren Bryen, Jasper, and Vanessa Bushamn, Camryn and Leah Dezek, Brooke and Alexis Dezek, Violet and Eliza Dezek, Nadia Dezek; and one step-son AJ Gearin.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Valeria Dezek, his brother George Dezek, and his son William Dezek.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Spooner Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
