In Memory of John Christofferson Jr.


April 15, 1945 - June 16, 2021

John William Christofferson Jr. Age 76, of Rice Lake, WI, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in Chippewa Falls, WI.

He was born on April 15, 1945 in Ashland, WI to John and Audrey (Wilson) Christofferson.

John graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1963 and then entered the United States Marines and served during the Vietnam Era and was Honorably Discharged in 1968. John was married to Kay McCann on August 3, 1990 in Rice Lake at First Lutheran Church. John was a baker for his father called the Tan Top in Eau Claire, Holsum Bakery in Rice Lake, Chetek Bakery, Bloomer Bakery and in LaCrosse. He was an avid sports fan, loved going to the casinos, and he worked with the youth coaching hockey and baseball in Chetek and Eau Claire.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Christofferson of Rice Lake; 3 sons, Jeff (Bobbi Jo) Christofferson of Rice Lake, Chad (Tari) Christofferson of Appleton and Scott (Chris) Christofferson of Rice Lake; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Mike Christofferson of Pigeon Falls, WI and Alan (Judy) Christofferson of Eau Claire; 3 sisters, Sharon (Jim) Nietz of Baraboo, WI, Kris (Howie) Kinderman of Gulf Port, Mississippi and Jeri (Randy) Seidling of Pensacola, FL; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Audrey Christofferson; 2 great grandchildren, Rowan and Nora Kockelman.

Graveside Services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI, with Military Rites accorded him by the Rice Lake Veterans Honor Guard. A celebration of his life will be held from 1-4PM Wednesday, June 23 at the Rice Lake Veteran Center.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is in charge of the arrangements.

The family would like to give the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls a special thanks for the love and care that they gave to John for several years.
