Joann Kathleen Varone, 84, of Almena, WI passed away at her home on Saturday, July 1, 2023.

She was born January 19, 1939 in Emily, MN to Adney and Martha (Behrns) Fletcher.

She was married in Minneapolis, MN on February 14, 1957, to James B. Varone, who preceded her in death on December 31, 2001.

Joann grew up in Emily, MN. She went on to raise six kids in Minneapolis, MN. Later in life, Joann and Jim moved to Phoenix, AZ and finally to Almena, WI. In her spare time, Joann liked to paint, play darts and go fishing (and an occasional trip to the casino, of course!). She was also skilled in small engine repairs.

She will be greatly missed by children, Joe (Merijean) Varone; Jeannie (Gary Mixon) Ray; Jerry (Sharon) Varone, Jay (Teresa) Varone, Janet (Michael) Beck, Julie (William) Hagen; grandchildren, Krista, Jake, Jimmy, Jamie, Jacqueline, Wendy, Melissa, Katie, Harrison, Madison, Gina, Matthew, Steven, Danielle, Rose, William; and 26 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by husband, James B. Varone; grandson Brian Varone; and sisters, Norma, Paulette and Ruth.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 at Arland Town Hall, with visitation beginning at noon and a light meal to follow at 1 PM.
