In Memory of Joan M. Miller


October 11, 1942 - December 1, 2023

Joan Marie Miller, 82, of Barronett passed peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023, at her home.

She was born October 11, 1942, to Johan and Emma (Selbrede) Jensen. She was married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson, WI on May 15, 1965, to John William Miller.

Joan graduated from Hudson High School in 1961. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse with a Bachelor’s Degree. She was the chaperone for the marching band, where she played the flute, when going to the World’s Fair in 1965. Joan worked for and retired from the Children’s Hospital - St. Paul. Joan was involved in the Island City Piecemakers and had served as the treasurer. She is a member of the American Legion Post 98 Auxiliary, and had served as Vice President. Joan loved to sing in the church choirs. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, John William Miller; children, John Edwin (Debra) Miller of Forest Lake, MN, and Jolene (James C.) Sullivan of River Falls, WI; four grandchildren: Alexandra Miller, Abbi (Tony) Nash, James D. and John R. Sullivan; great grandchild, Kano James Nash; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jensen; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Joan was preceded in death by son, John William “Billy” Miller; parents, Johan and Emma Jensen; siblings: Gloria Jensen, Ronald Jensen, and Tom Jensen.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Stanfold Lutheran Church in Rice Lake with Pastor John Bergson officiating. Burial will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM - 12 Noon.

Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
