In Memory of Joan C. Foley


March 23, 1929 - November 14, 2022

Long time Shell Lake resident, Joan Foley, passed away on November 14, after a brief illness.

She was born on March 23, 1929 in Wilton, Wisconsin to Herman and Clara (Schindler) Buchholz. She married Charles Foley on August 13, 1949.

She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church for 60 years. Over the years she helped in countless church suppers, taught Sunday school, and made hundreds of of quilts to donate to various organizations. She loved gardening and could often be seen mowing her lawn with her riding mower. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a foster mother for eighteen years.

She is survived by two daughters, Madelyn Klatt of Longmont, CO and Jeanne Malave of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; and special people in her life, Russell Marren, Rosalind Lee, Linda Holden, Cheryl Hesper, and Naomi Mamer.

She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel and her husband, Charles.

Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 18, 2022 at 1 PM at Salem Lutheran Church, Shell Lake. Visitation gathering 1/2 hour prior. Coffee hour to follow.

Private Interment Shell Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to family will be given to a deserving charity.
