In Memory of Jerome H. Gores

November 6, 1926 - December 31, 2023

Jerome Henry Gores, age 97, died peacefully on December 31, 2023 at Saint Mary's Home, Felician Village, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

He was born in Almena on November 6, 1926, to John and Odelia (Becker) Gores where he grew up on a farm with his parents, two brothers and his sister. He was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Jerome attended Sacred Heart School in Almena. He worked with his family on the farm and served in the Army from 1945 - 1946. He was an honored and active member of the VFW for the many years that he lived in Almena. In 1957, Jerome and his parents moved from the family farm in to town, and around that time he was employed by 3M where he worked until his retirement. Also, during those years, he frequently helped his brother, Ervin, on the family farm and cared for his parents' needs. After his father died in 1969, he was a primary caregiver for his mother until her death in 1991. In later years, he moved to Felician Village, where he lived in his apartment next to his sister and was able to spend time with her and her family.

Jerome was a kind, giving and loving son, brother, uncle and was a friend to many. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and had the Gores dry sense of humor in spades! His nieces and nephews loved being around him, and, when they were little, there would be spirited discussion about who would get to sit next to him at dinner. His family also enjoyed the results of his baking activities, especially his soft sugar cookies, big soft ginger cookies, and Uncle Jerome's Chocolate Mint Brownies! Jerome cherished spending time with family and friends and enjoyed visiting, fishing, playing cards, and traveling.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Gores of Chetek as well as by 16 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ervin and sister-in-law, Marian, his brother, John, his sister Delores Brickner and brother-in-law, Leo Brickner, his nephew Bob Gores, his niece, Mary Brickner Queen, his niece Barbara Brickner Christianson, and his great niece Stacey Quade Johnson.

Funeral Services for Jerome are Saturday, January 6th at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Almena with visitation 1 1/2 hours prior. Pallbearers are Jim Gores, Larry Brickner, Jerry Brickner, John Brickner, Mark Brickner and Jesse Cooper.

Thank you to St. Mary's Home & Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for the care they provided.

He will be missed by all.
