In Memory of Jeremy Roettger

January 6, 1977 - December 26, 2020

Roettger, 43, of Centuria passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2020 (December 26).

Jeremy was born on January 6, 1977 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin the son of Robert and Bonnie (Heckes) Roettger. Jeremy leaves to celebrate his memory: his daughter, Brionna Roettger, Duluth, MN; his mother, Bonnie Roettger, Centuria, WI; brothers, David Roettger, Edina, MN and Robbie Roettger, Fargo, ND; nephew, Zack Roettger, Centuria, WI; aunts, uncles and his special friends, Kyle, Dave, Luke, Chad, Jeff, Brad, and Joe. He was preceded in death by his father Robert D. Roettger.

Jeremy’s witty personality and spontaneous ideas lead to an unforgettably spent life. This started in his young years when he was growing up with his two older brothers, David and Rob. In junior high, Jeremy got the idea to tie a plastic sled to his eldest brother’s car by a rope in an attempt to go water skiing. Of course the two of them had to get there somehow, so Jeremy was pulled down the pavement roads at full speed all the way to Long Lake. What his brother didn’t know is that the hot pavement had worn through the plastic sled, and started tearing a hole right through Jeremy’s jeans. He signaled for help by frantically waving his hands in the air, but his brother simply thought he was doing so because he was having so much fun! By time they got to the lake, Jeremy was in nothing but his boxers and they never got to go through with their adventure that day. His free-spirit continued throughout his entire life, especially when he welcomed his own daughter into the world. Jeremy brought his daughter, Brionna, along with him on just about every adventure. When his daughter was just four years old, he brought her to his favorite camping spot, one that the two of them would later spend many summers. Jeremy always wanted to give his daughter great experiences, so one day he came up with the idea of floating down the river with her and his brother, Rob. The three of them used sticks as ores and floated down on a blow-up mattress. Suddenly they found themselves farther down river than they expected and in untouchable water. A sharp rock managed to puncture a hole in the handmade raft and once reaching shore, they had to walk along the river back to camp. It was indeed an experience that his daughter will never forget.

Jeremy was talented and had many intelligent gifts. In his young years, Jeremy was given the nickname “Raj'' from a high school friend. The name stuck throughout his entire life and today he’s still known amongst his friends as Raj. A spontaneous relocation to Duluth took Jeremy’s heart. He spent a vast majority of his life in the beautiful city and his parents, brothers, and friends visited often. He loved every opportunity he was able to show Lake Superior and his favorite restaurants off to everyone. He had great pride in his college degree, where he managed to appear on the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Dean’s list. Forming his days around the Packer’s schedule, he appreciated cooking and put his time into creating the finest omelets, tacos, and chicken & rice. When it wasn’t football season, he was in the great outdoors. He spent this time on the beaches of Lake Superior’s sand, camping for weeks at a time in the places that gave him the most peace, or simply having a bonfire in his backyard with the Twin’s game playing. While around the fire he also played his guitar and sang his heart out, something he always took pride in. To this day, his close friends and family can recall the lyrics of some of his most performed songs like “Anybody Else but You”, “Something I Shouldn’t do”, and “I’m Breaking Down”. Jeremy had a love for words; he was constantly writing song lyrics down on random scraps of paper and had a dream of writing a book one day. Jeremy found peace for himself and that is all anyone could have ever hoped for.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021, during the Packer game beginning at 3pm, at his mother’s home, 702 1st Street, Centuria, Wisconsin. Tacos, his favorite, will be served. His ashes will be spread at a later date in the places he found himself happiest.

Send memorials to his daughter, Brionna Roettger, to the address 2729 Lindahl Rd Duluth, Minnesota 55810, or to his mother, Bonnie Roettger.
