In Memory of Jeffrey R. Clampitt


June 27, 1956 - January 13, 2023

Jeffrey (Jeff) Russell Clampitt, 66, of Comstock, Wisconsin, passed away on January 13, 2023.

Preceded in death by parents Russell and Florence Clampitt; grandmother “Gaga” Hazel.

Jeff is survived by partner, Kim Sager; brother David Clampitt; 3 children, Jennifer (Jeff) Lanhart, Jason Clampitt, Jessica (Josh) Johnson; 6 grandchildren, Edward, Aaron, Gabrielle, Alex, Abigail and Stella.

Jeff was born on June 27, 1956 to Russell and Florence in Santa Monica, California and moved to Minnesota in 1958. After graduating from Irondale High School in 1974, Jeff worked at the post office for a few years while taking courses for drafting and engineering. He started working for 3M in 1980 as a Draftsman. Jeff later became a Design Engineer and, along with his colleagues, has multiple patents for his innovative designs. He retired after a 35 year career in 2015.

High school sweethearts, Jeff and Kim, married in 1976, going on to have 3 children. Jeff’s family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Jeff was unendingly proud of Jennifer, Jason and Jessica and always did anything he could to support them.

Jeff was also a passionate gear head and could often be found in his shop. He enjoyed restoring vehicles, particularly his 1957 Ford F100. Jeff had a love of airplanes, especially warbirds and old bombers. He even had his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. His favorite annual trips were to the Back to the 50’s car show, EAA AirVenture Fly-in and exploring the North Shore.

There will be a celebration of life June 17 in Jeff’s shop in Comstock, Wisconsin.
