In Memory of Jeffrey L. Scalzo
Jeff Scalzo, age 65, a resident of Spooner, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at his home.
Jeffrey L. Scalzo was born on October 24, 1956, in Spooner to parents William and Lucille (Christner) Scalzo.
He attended and graduated the Spooner Schools. After school, he worked at Links for the summer and worked various jobs in the area before going to work at Spooner Bottling in the early 1980’s. Jeff then took a job with Saratoga Distributing out of Superior for about 10 years. He then began his career at The Prime as a cook working for his Aunt Carol. From there he moved out to Colorado where he found work as a chef, then traveled to Arizona for a while before moving back to Spooner where he returned to The Prime as a cook until retirement. Customers were always happy to see that Jeff was in the kitchen, his passion for cooking and creativity never disappointed (he loved to hear how good his food was). Jeff loved cooking and baking using many old family recipes especially from his mom, playing golf and playing cards. He loved his grandchildren immensely, being a Grandpa gave him so much joy from watching Noah play football, hanging out watching tv with Greyson, peekaboo with Eden or his beautiful bond to his newest grandson Jagger. He enjoyed everything football related being an avid Packers fan for all of his life. Jeff loved traveling and exploring, hunting, fishing, camping and watching the Brewers or Badgers.
Although later divorced, he is survived by his daughters Ashley (Josh) Miller, Shaina Scalzo, Mycaela Scalzo all of Spooner, Tanya (Kurt) Stovring of Plymouth, MN, 4 grandchildren: Noah, Greyson, Eden, Jagger, brothers and sisters: Reed (Kim) Scalzo, Dan (Tammy) Scalzo, Dawn (Gary) Dunsmoor, Gary (Diane) Scalzo, all of Spooner, Janice (Mike) Jensen of Oklahoma, Ronnie Scalzo of South Carolina, and aunt Joanne (Dennis) Larson of Colorado.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and many other extended family.
A gathering of close friends and family will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 2-3pm, with at service at 3pm at the Spooner Funeral Home. An open Celebration of life will be held at The Prime on Friday from 4:30 until 7pm.
