In Memory of Jeanette Thompson


November 5, 1924 - July 8, 2019

Jeanette Nellie Thompson Age 94, of Rice Lake, WI died Monday, July 8, 2019 at Country Terrace in Rice Lake.

She was born on November 5, 1924 in Rice Lake to Irving and Stella (Shephard) Frommader. Jeanette graduated from the Rice Lake in 1942 and later received her degree in education from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. She taught elementary education in Sparta, Nobleton, Loveland Corners, Brill, Spooner and Rice Lake until her retirement in 1983. She was an active member of the Wisconsin Retired Educators Association for 25 years. Jeanette was an active member of WELCA at Grace Lutheran and Long Lake Lutheran church’s. She sang in the choir at both churches, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for over 20 years. She loved making banners for the church sanctuaries. Jeanette was also a Girl Scout Leader for 7 years. In her spare time, Jeanette enjoyed oil painting, numerous craft projects and reading. Jeanette married Roy E. Gagner on June 12, 1947. They were married for 46 years until his death in 1993. Together they enjoyed camping, traveling and square dancing with the Rice Lake Twirlers. Jeanette later married Warren Sarff in 1996 and after his death she married Adrian Thompson in Rice Lake and they enjoyed each other’s company until his death in 2010.

She is survived by her children; Dale (Jean) Gagner of Menomonie, WI Karen Heram of Rice Lake and Debra (Robert) Decker of Littleton, CO; 4 grandchildren, Jason Heram, Ashley (Dean) Burroughs, Matthew (Robyn) and Heather Gagner (Andy Neborak); 7 great grandchildren, Tyler and Malachi Heram, Madisen, Elly and McKenzie Gagner, Adalind and Emery Burroughs. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Gagner, Warren Sarff and Adrian Thompson; parents, Irving and Stella Frommader; sister, Doris (Ray) Steltzner; 2 brothers, Tom (Aggie) Frommader and Earl (Leona) Frommader.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Rev. Grant Aaseng officiating, with interment in the Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake are appreciated.
