In Memory of Jean Towne
Jean (Ficocello) Towne, 93, of Cumberland passed peacefully Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Care and Rehab-Cumberland. She was born May 3, 1925 in Cumberland to Nick and Patricia (Manella) Ricci. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1943. She was married to George Ficocello on January 12, 1946. They raised their family in Cumberland. George passed in April of 1973. Later, Jean married Jack Towne, and they built a life together in Hayward, where she co-owned and operated Towne Cleaners. Jean wore many colorful hats: political warrior, first lady of Avon, business entrepreneur and "Ma Hoot". She will also be remembered as a community servant, a wonderful hostess and a loving mentor to many.
She leaves fond memories with her children: Joseph (Terry) Ficocello of Las Vegas, NV, Patricia Hanson of Hayward, Sandra (Steve) Heintz of Turtle Lake, David (Diana) Ficocello of Cumberland and Matthew Ficocello of Hayward; 8 grandchildren: Christopher Hanson of Hayward, Kelli Carlson of Hayward, Greta (Aaron) Koehler of Minneapolis, MN, Ginger (Tim Brownell) Heintz of Eau Claire, Georgia (Tony Martin) Heintz of Eau Claire, Dominic Ficocello of Richfield, MN, Francesca (Justin Lindau) Ficocello of St. Paul, MN, and Elizabeth (Nate) Froehlich of Cumberland; great grandchildren: Ben, Allison and Gianna; sisters: Helen Skinner and Laura Ficocello, both of Cumberland; brothers: Nick (Bev) Ricci, of Rice Lake and Thomas (Dayle) Ricci of Trego; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by son, Mike; grandson, Tony; sister, Doris (Oliver); brother, Albert (Jean).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 4, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Cumberland, WI with Father Tom Thompson officiating and burial to follow in the church cemetery. Serving as casketbearers are Jerry Chartraw, Rick Chartraw, Bob Skinner, Bert Skinner, Mike Skinner, Jim Ricci, Joe Ricci, Tony Ficocello, Nick Ficocello, Nick Steve Ricci, Ted Ricci and Nick Ricci. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the Mass.
