In Memory of Jean Kissner


September 3, 1929 - February 24, 2019

Jean Lorraine Kissner, age 89, of Hayward, WI passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Aspen Acres in Hayward.  She was born September 3, 1929 in the upper peninsula of Michigan to Edward and Jennie (Aho) Holm. 

She graduated from the Dollar Bay, MI High School in 1948 and then worked as a secretary until her marriage to William “Bill” Kissner on March 24, 1951 in Hancock, Michigan.  They traveled the U.S. and Germany with her husband’s military and professional careers.  

They settled in Platteville, WI for 29 years where Bill taught civil engineering.  Jean belonged Hospital Auxiliary Faculty Wives Club and First English Lutheran Church.  They enjoyed camping and canoeing with their children and their friends. 

They retired in Hayward, WI in 1988.  Jean enjoyed gardening, knitting, playing the piano, reading and snowmobiling.  She was a member of the Northwood’s Humane Society and a former member of the Sno-Mads Snowmobile Club.  She loved flowers, from wild flowers to roses.

She is survived by her two sons, Hal of Havre, MT and Kyle (Karin) of Hayward; grandsons, Cody of Chinook, MT and Tyler of Rice Lake, WI; a great-granddaughter, Klaire; a sister, Lou Neelands of Manitawoc, WI; a sister-in-law, Ann; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; her brother, Harold; and her daughter, Holly.

All services and interment will be held privately
