Janis Hargreaves, age 85, passed away on August 31, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center in Rice Lake.

Jan was born in Rice Lake on September 26, 1938, to Gordon and Anita Brunette. She graduated from Rice Lake in 1956. She married her first husband, Daniel Hessel, in 1958. They had two children and were later divorced.

Jan met and married her beloved husband Leon (Tony) Hargreaves on September 7, 1968, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They were married for 44 years until his passing in 2012.

Janis was employed by Home Interiors & Gifts for 40 years from 1972 to 2012. She served as Executive for the local “Hargreaves Unit” for 30 years. During this time she made many wonderful close friends.

Janis is survived by her son, David (Pam) Hessel daughter, Cheryl (Dave) Weldon, 4 grandchildren Steven (Amy) Barker, Jennifer Barker, Mitchell Hessel, and Jamie Hessel; 4 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, Lauren and Dylan.

Also surviving Janis are siblings Larry (Lisa) Brunette, Bonita (Ron) Gagner, Diane (Denny Hennekens) Larson, Debbie (Dan) Rogowski, Brian (Sandy Kleusch) Brunette, Julie (Mark Miller) Brunette-Hasart, and Brenda (John) Lusson. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Jan’s wishes, a private family ceremony will be held in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, at a later date.
