Janice Rae Wenzel Age 75, of Rice Lake, WI, died Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at her home.

She was born on October 12, 1948 to Ivan and Elaine (Carr) Martin.

Janice graduated from Colby High School. She was married to John Wenzel on June 9, 1967 in Stratford, WI. Janice worked for Farm and Fleet in Rice Lake as sporting goods and electronics manager for 11 years. Janice and John moved the family from Marshfield to Rice Lake after building a home together . They took an empty lot and turned it into their own paradise. Janice loved working in her gardens at home, collecting antiques, crafting, making quilts, decorating her house and spending time with her sisters and family. She was a proud member of the Rice Lake Garden Club. Her love of photography was a gift and she took many pictures of the flowers she planted. She had a love of animals and over the years had many beloved pets.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jamey Bowe; 3 grandchildren, Jacob Wenzel (Erika De La Torre), Brittney (Jace) Kortbein and Brendan Rohlik (Sidney Trotter); 4 sisters, Sandi Eckes, Colleen (Jim) Wamhoff, Linda (Robert) Martin and Candice Martin; a brother, Ronald Martin; her best friend, Cheryl Kuyoth; a niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wenzel; a daughter, Traci Wenzel; and her parents, Ivan and Elaine Martin.

Graveside Services will be held at Noon, February 9, 2024 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.
