In Memory of Janice Nichols


June 18, 1944 - January 2, 2022

Janice “Jan” Nichols Age 77, of Birchwood, WI, died Sunday, January 2, 2022 in Mequon, WI.

She was born on June 18, 1944 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Oscar and Leocadia (Jaskola) Olson.

Jan graduated from the Onalaska, WI high school in 1962. She attended Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, WI for business. She was married to Richard (Dick) Nichols on November 9, 1963 in Onalaska, WI. She worked at Charmglow Products and Brunswick Billiards in Bristol Wisconsin as a Customer Service Representative for 18 years. She also worked for Rice Lake Weighing System as a customer service representative. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing cards and was an avid bowler and billiards player. She was a Silver Lake 4H Troop Leader where she also taught sewing, Silver Lake Fire Department and Rescue Auxiliary volunteer and active in Southeast Wisconsin Bowling League of Twin Lakes. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Birchwood. Dick and Jan sponsored an annual fishing contest called Tricky Dick’s Big Mahoski Ice Fishing Derby for over 25 years.

She is survived by her 3 children, Scott (Beth) Nichols, Jeff (Andrea) Nichols and Kim (John) Uzzardo; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie and Nick; a great grandson, Morrison; and her twin sister Joan Sherouse.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Richard, her parents, and seven siblings (4 brothers and 3 sisters).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Saturday January 15, 2022 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Birchwood, Father Ed Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance or Cattails Cottage in Marshfield WI.
