
In Memory of Janice M. Petersen
Janice Marie Petersen, 82, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025 with her husband by her side.
Janice was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 31, 1943 to the late Floyd and Ada (Bruner) Johnson. During her younger years, her family moved to Amery, and she attended Apple River Park School, and graduated from Amery High. After graduation she attended school in Idaho where she received her LPN in nursing. After receiving her license, she moved back home to Amery and started working at the Amery Hospital. In 1973, she met Wayne Petersen, one of her patients at the hospital, and their courtship began. In 1974 Wayne and Janice were married. She continued to work at the Amery Hospital for over 40 years where she dedicated her time, knowledge and compassion to her patients. Not only was Janice dedicated to being a wonderful nurse, she was also a devoted Christian. She had a firm belief in God and Jesus Christ, and she actively engaged in her faith through prayer and worship. She strived to live a life that followed Jesus’s teachings and model his love and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ada Johnson and her brother, James Riley.
Janice is survived by her husband, Wayne Petersen, sister, Karen Ford, step-children, Cheryl Petersen, Daryl Petersen, Greg (Linda) Petersen, Michael (Tina Cotts) Petersen; along with many other step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at the Balsam Lutheran Church in Amery, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at the Balsam Lutheran Cemetery in Amery, Wisconsin.
