In Memory of Janet Tomas


April 8, 1951 - February 27, 2021

Janet Irene Tomas, 69, of Chetek, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on February 27, 20201 after a long battle with muscular dystrophy.

She was born on April 8, 1951 to Benjamin and Nora (Desham) Spickler.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered contagious smile and giggle, sweet spirit, and Godly testimony. She will be greatly missed.

Janet grew up in Mifflinburg, PA, and accepted Christ as her Saviour at a young age of 8. She graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1969 and later went on to be a secretary at Bob Jones University. She met and later married Mark Tomas, a dairy farmer in Wisconsin, on June 5, 1976. They farmed together in Hollandale, WI until 2003, and then moved to Chetek. Janet was a beloved wife and mother. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Barron, WI.

Janet leaves to celebrate her memory: her loving and devoted husband of almost 45 years, Mark Tomas, Chetek, WI, children: Linda (Wesley) Borechardt, Fort Atkinson, WI; Kevin (Candace) Tomas, Mauldin, SC; Nancy (Brian) Frye, Hudson, WI and Benjamin (Rebecca) Tomas, Mequon, WI; grandchildren: Seth, Aaron and Caleb Borechardt, Charlotte and Claire Tomas, Leah and Natalie Frye, Tatym, Ryder and Elynn Tomas and her brother Robert (Sherri) Spickler and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Nora Spickler, brothers; Earl, David and Leroy, sisters, Myrtle, Dorothy, Julia and Rose.

There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. – 6:30 P.M. with a funeral service at 6:30 P.M. at the Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek. Pastor John Terpstra will officiate.

Janet will be laid to rest at the Calvary Cemetery in Cobb, Wisconsin on Thursday, March 4, 2021 with a graveside service at 1:00 P.M. All are welcome to attend. Palbearers will be Benjamin Tomas, Kevin Tomas, Wesley Borchardt, Brian Frye, Shawn Johnson and Joel Tomas.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Meadowbrook of Chetek and the Lakeview Medical Center Hospice for their loving care throughout the years.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
