Jane Elizabeth McLean, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at her residence in Hayward, WI.

She was born March 31, 1934 in Radisson, WI, the daughter of Hugh and Amanda (Moyer) McLean.

Jane started teaching in a small country school in Couderay, WI with eight grades under one roof. She moved on to teach at Lincoln Elementary School in Rice Lake, WI, where she worked until retirement. She loved teaching and also served her community as a Sunday school teacher and 4-H leader. Jane was a life-long member of the Wayside Chapel. She loved gardening, reading, and puzzles. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family playing card and board games. She was an avid bird watcher and she could identify them all. She also enjoyed listening to music and occasionally playing the piano. Most of all, Jane was proud of her family and absolutely loved watching her two great-great nieces dance around and draw pictures.

She is survived by her sister, Judith of Hayward, WI; her niece, Heather McLean of Duluth, MN; her great-niece, Amanda (John) Lilla of Hudson, WI; and her great-great-nieces, Bethany and Hadley.

In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her brother, Wilson McLean.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Hayward Funeral Home, 15571 W. County Highway B in Hayward, where visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. Cake and coffee to follow the service.

Interment will take place in the spring in Evergreen Cemetery in Stone Lake, WI.
